Prince of Denmark Brass and Percussion

The Prince of Denmark Brass and Percussion is a key stakeholder of the Christian Lindberg International Solo Competition for Brass and Percussion.

Based in Jylland, the ensemble—whose roots trace back to 1657 as a corps of trumpeters and which was officially established as an orchestra on 19 April 1766, making it one of Scandinavia’s oldest orchestras—is one of the three full-time professional orchestras of the Danish Armed Forces and consists of 16 professional musicians. The ensemble is led by Chief Conductor Christian Lindberg, one of the most internationally renowned figures in the brass world, whose artistic vision plays a central role in shaping both the orchestra and the competition.

Serving the Royal House, the Armed Forces, and the Danish public, the ensemble performs at official ceremonies as well as in its own concert series, engaging audiences across a wide range of contexts.

Internationally recognized for its broad musical range, the ensemble moves seamlessly between genres, from refined chamber settings and church concerts to large-scale festive productions.

This partnership between leading institutions forms the foundation of the competition, connecting professional performance, education, and the next generation of international soloists.
