The complete rules for the Christian Lindberg International Solo Competition will be available for download soon using the link above.


This document contains all official information regarding the competition, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, jury procedures, and important deadlines.


All applicants are required to carefully read the full document before submitting their application.

The repertoire for the competition will consist of:


Video Pre Round:

Participants record a video tape unaccompanied and send as an unlisted youtube clip

  • Trumpet: Joseph Haydn Trumpet Concerto 1st mmt
  • French Horn: To be announced soon
  • Trombone: Ferdinand David Concertino 1st mmt
  • Bass Trombone: Alexej Lebedev Concerto up until cadenza
  • Euphonium: To be announced soon
  • Tuba: To be announced soon
  • Percussion: To be announced soon


Round 1:

Participants perform Music for a Flying Prince, composed by Christian Lindberg, in versions adapted for all instruments solo, specifically written for the competition.


Round 2:

Participants perform a compulsory work for their respective instrument, with piano accompaniment:

  • Trumpet: George Enescu – Légende
  • Horn: Robert Schumann – Adagio and Allegro
  • Trombone / Bass Trombone: Stjepan ŠulekSonata
  • Tuba: Sofia Gubaidulina – Lamento
  • Euphonium: Keiko Shoji – Fantasy for Euphonium
  • Horn: Robert Schumann – Adagio and Allegro
  • Percussion: Iannis Xenakis – Rebonds II

Round 3 – Finale

Participants perform a solo work accompanied by Prince of Denmark Brass and Percussion, conducted by Christian Lindberg:

  • Trumpet: Alexander Aratiunian – Trumpet Concerto
  • Horn: Edward Gregson – Horn Concerto
  • Trombone: Christian Lindberg – Mandrake in the Corner
  • Bass Trombone: Christian Lindberg – Mandrake in the Corner (bass trombone version)
  • Euphonium: Tom Davoren – Euphonium Concerto
  • Tuba: Vaughan Williams – Tuba Concerto
  • Percussion: Rasmus Clemens - Percussion Concertino


The final round must be performed from memory.



Jury


The Christian Lindberg International Solo Competition will be evaluated by an international jury composed of distinguished musicians, including renowned soloists, professors, and orchestral performers from leading institutions.


The jury will be responsible for evaluating the performances throughout the different rounds of the competition and selecting the prize winners.
